Slightly Mad Studios has just released new screenshots of the Chevrolet Camaro SS. Recently, we unveiled plenty of visuals of the circuits you will be able to race around in World Of Speed for the community. It was high time to reveal a few cars…
Today, we are bringing you a few screenshots of a muscular, typically American car: the Chevrolet Camaro SS! Take a look!

The guys at
Slighty Mad Studios (Need For Speed Shit) are back with a new racing game, "
World of Speed." The game was not presented with great fanfare at the major shows, and the first details were revealed to journalists. As mentioned earlier, it is a racing game, so nothing exceptional on that front. However, the information becomes more exciting when we learn that the title will be
free to play. A free-to-play
multiplayer racing game—that is more interesting. Unfortunately for us, our appetite for information was only very slightly satisfied. The designers kept all the details locked away in a safe, preferring to sprinkle us with just a few crumbs. Communication 2.0 at its finest.

The presentation began with some "basic" and enticing information. The game will feature numerous modes and encourage players to work as a team. The "
Driver Score" will further encourage drivers to complete certain objectives in order to score the most points. Trophies, rewards, badges: these little medals will try to satisfy the most seasoned players. To organize themselves more effectively, these groups of drivers will gather in a Club, a sort of guild that can meet in a Clubhouse, a 3D area offering various interactions. It is clear that the developers are heavily emphasizing the competitive side, much like an MMORPG where PVP reigns supreme. Careful organization will be needed to take our team to the top step of the podium.
Teamplay, for example, will be the key to success. At the very beginning of a race, several challenges are assigned to each participant. If they are completed correctly, the total number of points will increase considerably. Teamplay truly comes into its own when the entire team completes all the objectives. For example, one player may have to reach the highest speed while their teammate blocks or damages opponents. Other less aggressive objectives, such as drifting continuously, will add to the rewards: enough to have fun with the Camaro SS or the Mercedes SLS, among others.

Once you get the hang of it, you can engage in a
global territorial war against other clubs. The ultimate goal is to gain the greatest influence—in other words, to dominate the world through tire squeals and skill. Sadly for us, the explanations stopped there. We only know that London, Moscow and Monaco will be among the locations. As for the game modes, things are even less clear. We simply know that there will be "many" of them, with no further details…

However, we were able to try World of Speed for about an hour on two circuits.
Graphically, it looks good, especially for a free-to-play game. The circuits are well modeled, the environments are not too empty and the car designs are convincing. Nevertheless, the game's weak point is the vehicle physics. They were extremely disappointing. Collisions are handled very poorly and can even be comical at times. If you are unfortunate enough to hit another car at high speed, your vehicle may go flying into the air and spin endlessly. But that is not all, because the controller handling is disastrous. The developers explained that the optimizations had not yet been implemented, but that this would be done in the coming months. By contrast, playing with a steering wheel feels great. It was sometimes a little lacking in dynamism, but overall, the "sound" fundamentals of a racing game already seemed to be in place. The sensation of speed is amplified by nitro, which naturally provides a major boost. As always in games of this type, a blur filter distorts the screen to heighten the impression of speed.

Since the competitive side will be heavily emphasized, we already fear that pay-to-win mechanics may join the party. I asked several developers how paid content would be offered. Skins, upgrades and customization were often mentioned, but not
pay to win. The designers guaranteed that this aspect would not be present in the game because it would be unfair. Let's hope it stays that way!
