HUNT: Horrors of the Gilded Age — Crytek's Announcement

By Filo · · 3 min read
Official website: http://www.huntthegame.com/ Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age was announced by Crytek today. The game is a four-player co-op title described as "a terrifying new multiplayer experience for PC and consoles." Hunt takes place sometime in the 1800s, with you and your friends battling undead monstrosities and other horrors. The game's premise revolves around a group of hunters tasked with ridding the world of horrors once believed to be nothing more than myths. You are one of the few who is "ready to step beyond the edge of what is seen and stand against the encroaching darkness." Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age seems to be taking inspiration from Valve's Left 4 Dead, although it has a very different setting. Crytek's upcoming title is described as a "pulse-pounding four-player action co-op" game."Crytek's third-person thriller turns you into both hunter and hunted as you team up with up to three other players and face an onslaught of bloodthirsty creatures together. With bullets running low and artificial light flickering, you'll have to work strategically as a team to stay alive—especially when you hunt down breathtaking bosses with the brains and brawn to send you and your friends to an untimely death. Hunt together or die alone, it's up to you," the official website explains. So far, it doesn't sound particularly revolutionary, but the press release reveals a few more details. HUNT Horrors of the Gilded Age "Adding to the excitement of the hunt is a special content-generation system that ensures players never encounter exactly the same environment or set of enemies twice. As the surprises keep coming, the terror of knowing that one of the game's grueling boss fights could be just around the corner will keep everyone's pulses pounding. Defeating a boss will require close collaboration between the hunters as they attempt to understand and take down truly terrifying monsters."  Now that sounds very exciting and seems to bring something new to the table. It's interesting to note that Crytek announced another new IP a few days ago. Their other game is a MOBA called Arena of Fate  and will feature famous characters from history and fantasy.
