Microsoft and Lamborghini announce that the Lamborghini Centenario will feature on the cover of the next Forza game on Xbox
Automobili Lamborghini unveils the Lamborghini Centenario at the Geneva International Motor Show to celebrate the centenary of its founder Ferruccio Lamborghini's birth and its debut in the next
As part of the Geneva International Motor Show, Microsoft's Turn 10 Studios and Lamborghini announced their latest collaboration, which will put the brand-new Lamborghini Centenario super sports car on the cover of the next title in the award-winning Forza racing franchise. The Xbox game will be unveiled at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in June 2016, and the Centenario will be available "First in Forza," giving millions of fans around the world the dream opportunity to drive the virtual version of the car on Xbox before its road debut.
The Centenario gave Lamborghini's designers and engineers the opportunity to transcend some of the production constraints of series-production cars and achieve an incomparable result: the super sports car immediately established itself as a must-have collector's car, while showcasing Lamborghini's new technologies and exceptional performance. It is a fitting tribute to Ferruccio Lamborghini on the occasion of his centenary—a man who created an exceptional brand, believed that anything was possible and produced extraordinary iconic cars. The Centenario is a super sports car for Ferruccio Lamborghini and for the future in which he and the company believe today. Using a V12 architecture, the Centenario's naturally aspirated engine produces 770 hp and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds and from 0 to 300 km/h in 23.5 seconds, with a top speed of more than 350 km/h.
"We are delighted to continue our long-standing collaboration with Lamborghini and to take part in its 100th anniversary by celebrating the Centenario and making it the cover car of the next Forza game," said Phil Spencer, head of Xbox. "It is an honor for us to announce our partnership at one of the world's biggest auto shows, and we look forward to unveiling the game at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo."
"Our collaboration with Microsoft and Turn 10 Studios allows us to share the limited-production Centenario with an unprecedented global audience and let them experience the excitement of driving the most powerful Lamborghini ever produced," added Maurizio Reggiani, a member of Automobili Lamborghini's research and development board.
Lamborghini's legendary cars are among the most popular in the Forza garage, with more than five million players spending nearly 60 million hours driving Lamborghinis. The Lamborghini Centenario will join the already impressive list of 14 exclusive Lamborghinis featured in the award-winning Forza franchise on Xbox One. Each Lamborghini is presented in detail in Forzavista—in other words, each one features functional doors and headlights, as well as drivable cockpits. Forza remains the most popular racing franchise of the current console generation, and more than 10 million individual fans have played Forza games on Xbox One, making it the most-played racing franchise on Xbox One.
"Few automotive designs are as evocative, iconic or recognizable as a Lamborghini. Whether in Forzavista, on the road or on a world-famous racing circuit, our team meticulously recreates every model with the utmost attention to detail. These cars truly come to life through ForzaTech, Turn 10 Studios' exclusive cutting-edge graphics and physics simulation engine," said Dan Greenawalt, creative director at Turn 10 Studios. "One of Turn 10 Studios' ongoing missions is to promote the fusion of car culture and gaming culture. Between previous tournaments with MLG and Gfinity, Forza has a long history with esports—one of the fastest-growing sports in the world. Our upcoming Lamborghini Super Trofeo series gives us the platform to engage automotive and gaming communities in a new type of motorsport."
Starting today, Turn 10 Studios and Lamborghini are giving players of all skill levels in "Forza Motorsport 6" the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series experience. During the first season, players will compete in "Rivals" time-trial events and ranked multiplayer "Leagues" using the 2014 Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo. Depending on their position in their division or on the "Rivals" leaderboard, players will earn the exclusive 2015 Huracán Super Trofeo and be invited to take part in the competition's second season, where additional prizes will be awarded.
