Watch Dogs: Q&A Session
Ubisoft recently held a Q&A session with players about the highly anticipated Watch_Dogs, allowing us to learn more about the game.
Without further ado, here are the questions and answers, as if you had asked them yourselves—or almost:
Are there day-night cycles in the game?
Yes, there are real-time day-night cycles. The in-game time is not scripted.
What weather systems can players expect?
We have many possibilities when it comes to the weather, from a calm, sunny day to a rainy storm. Wind, rain and nights all have several levels of intensity, and they are all "systemic."
How do you ensure that every NPC (non-playable character) is unique?
Every NPC has unique qualities that distinguish them from the others in the game. There are more than 3,000 character kits and almost an infinite number of possible unique profiles.
How many NPCs can be present?
The number of NPCs encountered by the player depends on various factors, such as the time of day and the location. Around midday, the player will see more NPCs going about their business. After nightfall, there will be fewer NPCs, as we see in real life. The heart of downtown Chicago is a very busy area, with far more citizens than, for example, the industrial district.
Our main goal was to make the world feel alive, as we would expect from a major city like Chicago. And, of course, the new generation of consoles allows us to put more NPCs into the world than we can on the previous generation.
It is therefore difficult to give an exact figure, but rest assured that the city feels more alive than ever, with all these NPCs populating it.
Can absolutely every NPC in the game be hacked?
Yes, every NPC can be hacked. Depending on their profile, a variety of hacks is possible. You can also hack elements of the world to influence the NPCs around them.
What different environments can we expect?
Chicago is a rich and diverse city, and we want players to explore every corner of it. There are six different districts in Watch_Dogs, each with its own identity, different types of NPCs and a different atmosphere.
How many vehicles will players be able to drive?
More than 75 different vehicles, from bicycles and luxury cars to racing cars. Every vehicle has its own realistic physics.
How many different hacks are available in the game?
More than 100 hacks.
