Players are invited to immerse themselves in another world with Crytek's virtual reality demo
Crytek has released Back to Dinosaur Island 2, its free virtual reality demo, giving players around the world the chance to experience the combined power of CRYENGINE and virtual reality hardware. Back to Dinosaur Island 2 received an enthusiastic reception when it was first shown to E3 2015 attendees and had only been playable at a handful of industry events. Now, all players can take part in this virtual reality experience by downloading it for free from Steam.
The demo invites players to climb a deadly cliff face while gigantic flying dinosaurs react to your presence and showers of debris fall from the sky. Mysterious monuments and magnificent views on the horizon help players immerse themselves in an entirely new reality. Elijah Freeman, Executive Producer at Crytek, says: "The feedback we received from people who played Back to Dinosaur Island 2 was greatly encouraging, and the lessons we learned while creating the game have considerably helped us in developing our current virtual reality projects. The demo goes beyond a simple visual showcase and includes interactive elements that harness the unique power of this medium. By making this experience available for free, we hope that as many players as possible will take the opportunity to dive into a new world populated by dinosaurs." Crytek has also released a video offering a preview of what can be expected from this demo. Back to Dinosaur Island 2 can be played using any virtual reality headset with Rift SDK 0.8 or later.
