2K announces that Paul George, the Indiana Pacers All-Star shooting guard, will be the athlete featured on the cover of NBA 2K17, the next installment in the best-selling and highest-rated NBA simulation series*, which will be available in early access starting September 16. This is the first time Paul George has appeared alone on the cover of an NBA 2K game. On the court, Paul George made an explosive comeback by recording the best average of his career, with 23.1 points per game during the 2015-16 NBA regular season. "As far back as I can remember, I have always played NBA 2K, and having the honor of being the athlete on the cover of NBA 2K17 is a blessing and a sign of confidence that prove my work on and off the court has paid off," comments Paul George, who also led his team to the NBA playoffs in 2015-2016. "I'm thrilled to be associated with 2K and hope to help take the franchise to an even higher level." Long known as one of the most passionate NBA 2K players, Paul George already has a long history with 2K: he was the cover athlete for the MyNBA2K16 Companion app, as well as a guest commentator for the NBA 2K16 Road to the Finals championship ($250,000 in prize money), which took place on June 1. As part of his global partnership with 2K, Paul George will also be the featured athlete for NBA 2K Online in China. "Every year, the NBA 2K franchise continues to grow, but we have always focused on creating an experience that resonates with our most passionate fans," adds Alfie Brody, vice president of marketing for NBA 2K. "Paul George was a natural choice for this cover and a true embodiment of what we represent and bring to basketball players and fans." 2K is also revealing the early-access date for NBA 2K17 today. Starting today, fans can pre-order NBA 2K17 from participating retailers and online retailers to receive their copy of the game starting Friday, September 16, along with additional digital content including: [caption id="attachment_2352" align="aligncenter" width="208"]NBA 2K17 NBA 2K17[/caption]
