Two new videos for Sid Meier's Civilization VI
PC [ Take Two Interactive ]
Sid Meier's Civilization VI will be available on October 21 for PC
City expansion affects every aspect of Civilization VI and radically changes gameplay strategies. The location chosen to found your city is more crucial than ever, since the available tiles will affect the strength of districts and limit the wonders you can build within that city's borders. This means players will have to adapt to their surroundings and consider more precise specializations for their cities, which in turn will allow them to create more varied empires.
In Civilization V, players added buildings to a queue, and the buildings were constructed while all coexisted on the city screen. For Civilization VI, we chose to let them live, opening up that screen a little. In other words, players will now have to think about the order in which they construct buildings, while also considering adjacent district bonuses and the compatibility between terrain types and wonders on the outskirts of their city center. There are many strategies in Civilization VI, and players' decisions will be shaped primarily by their surroundings, making every game different.
City expansion also has consequences for combat. As cities spread across a larger territory, they become more exposed to attacks, and warriors will be able to target specific tiles to cripple a city's infrastructure before launching an assault on its center. Likewise, passive players who previously relied on fortifications will now have to worry about their city's entire perimeter if they want to maintain that strategy in Civilization VI. Your cities will now be much more than a simple city center!
Finally, from a visual standpoint, city expansion brings major aesthetic changes to your games. Cities now look more varied and show their growth more distinctly. For us, this change is immense, not only because it helps players feel more involved in their choices and progress, but also because it greatly enhances the sense of immersion in the wonderful world of Civilization VI.
