Riders of Icarus is now in open beta

 

Capture and tame mounts, conquer dangerous areas and enjoy total freedom in this one-of-a-kind free-to-play MMORPG

After a series of closed betas created to gather and implement player feedback, Riders of Icarus is ready for its Western expansion. Nexon America and WeMade Entertainment are officially launching the open beta for their free-to-play MMORPG in North America, Europe, Oceania and other applicable regions* on PC via Steam and the Nexon Launcher. On land or in the skies, the battle can finally begin: the feeling of freedom and power is absolute when riding a majestic dragon, as shown in the latest Riders of Icarus trailer. Players joining the battlefield will be able to collect and tame hundreds of mythical beasts, turning them into docile mounts—and, above all, deadly weapons—throughout their journey across a dense fantasy universe filled with surprises. Epic boss battles will allow all players, and their loyal mounts, to master the skills needed to become a legendary Rider on Icarus. "The open beta for Riders of Icarus is only the beginning of a long and fruitful adventure for the game in the Western market," says Hoon Seok, Game Producer. "Feedback from our closed betas has been fundamental for us, allowing us to ensure an immersive experience for all players. We look forward to working with the community throughout the open beta to make the world of Riders of Icarus a unique place where everyone feels welcome." Nexon America and WeMade have already begun implementing features based on player feedback to offer the best possible experience. The main improvements made ahead of the open beta are as follows:

• More engaging and effective tutorials
• Controls adapted to all types of MMO players
• Reduced penalties for upgrading items
• An achievement system to immerse players in missions and give them more ways to earn in-game currency
• An updated store to ensure Riders of Icarus has a true free-to-play future

In the coming months, players will gain access to a higher level cap, new regions, dungeons and mounts. The world will also feature mixed PvP (Player-versus-Player) and PvE (Player-versus-Environment) areas, offering players an organic experience. To prepare for the dangers lurking in Riders of Icarus, including ferocious beasts, vampires and other powerful titans, players can take part in various open beta special events:

• Open Beta Celebration Event: Riders can receive a Dragon Fire Shoulder Raven for free by logging in before July 20
• Dungeon Dominator Event: dark and perilous dungeons—and powerful special equipment—await the bravest Riders
• Summer Attendance Event: free items can be collected simply by logging in through July 26, with daily rewards
• Hakanas Coin Event: daily achievements let players earn Hakans Coins, which can be exchanged for crates filled with rewards
