This major update lets console players become Star Trek: The Original Series captains
All of Star Trek's timelines and universes collide when enemies threaten to destroy the past as we know it in Agents of Yesterday, forcing Star Trek Online's bravest captains to become temporal agents tasked with protecting the Federation's future. After creating a new captain in the era of Star Trek: The Original Series, players can take command of one of the many 23rd-century ships at their disposal and explore iconic locations from the television show that paved the way for one of the most popular science-fiction franchises of all time. The Agents of Yesterday expansion features an exclusive selection of characters voiced by fan-favorite Star Trek actors, including Chekov (Walter Koenig), Scotty (Chris Doohan, son of James Doohan), temporal agent Daniels (Matt Winston), Admiral Leeta (Chase Masterson), and cyborg crew member 0718 (Joseph Gatt). The Star Trek Online expansion arriving today on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 also includes the features from the PC update, Agents of Yesterday: Artifacts.
The new content available to console players includes a new sub-faction, more than a dozen missions inspired by Star Trek: The Original Series, and a selection of new ships from every era, ranging from the legendary 23rd-century Constitution-class cruiser to the powerful 31st-century Chronos-class temporal dreadnought. By choosing to become a temporal agent, players gain access to a new specialization tree that lets them manipulate space-time to protect history as we know it from those who would attempt to destroy our past. In addition, the Agents of Yesterday update includes the following new features:
- New special task force missions - this feature lets captains take on entirely new ground and space challenges alongside other members of the community.
- A 100% Trek cast - this expansion welcomes Chekov, Daniels, and many other characters from the Star Trek series and films, voiced by their original actors.
- A new universe to explore - Agents of Yesterday reveals content and actors from the Kelvin timeline, the universe on which the 2009, 2013, and 2016 Star Trek films are based.
- The K-13 fleet holding - after being lost in a temporal anomaly during the events of Agents of Yesterday, the K-13 space station returns as a fleet holding in the style of Star Trek: The Original Series.
- New weapons and bridge officers - the expansion provides Star Trek Online players with new weapons inspired by The Original Series, as well as Klingon and Federation bridge officers who survived all these years aboard the K-13 station in cryogenic sleep.
- The 7th anniversary celebration - players can take part in special anniversary events such as the Omega Particle Stabilization minigame to earn exclusive rewards, including a Tier 6 Krenim Science Vessel. The most dedicated captains can also log in every day from today through February 20 to receive daily in-game gifts.
Star Trek Online is a free-to-play massively multiplayer online game in which players can forge their own destiny by taking on the role of a Federation starship captain, becoming a powerful Klingon warrior seeking to expand the Empire's influence to the far reaches of the galaxy, or working to rebuild the Romulan legacy as a member of the Romulan Republic.
