It's time for the verdict on one of the year's most anticipated games, according to Game Informer, IGN, GameStop, GamesRadar+, Polygon and others! Following their hugely successful Kickstarter campaign, which raised $823,704 in November 2015, Gun Media and IllFonic managed to build on that success with an additional $1.2 million raised through Backerkit. Throughout development, Friday the 13th: The Video Game was enhanced with features particularly requested by fans. The single-player mode, which adds AI-controlled bots, will notably arrive this summer in all versions of the game at no extra cost. Friday the 13th Friday the 13th: The Video Game aims to deliver a terrifying mix of tension and horror for both players and fans of the Friday the 13th franchise. For the first time, players will be able to take on the role of Jason himself and embark on a thrillingly murderous manhunt against innocent camp counselors controlled by other players! With one player facing seven others in the vast Crystal Lake camp, the match may not be quite as unbalanced as it sounds. "It's incredible to see this initial idea become a reality. We are a small team working tirelessly to bring this project that has been in our heads for so many years to life. The reception this project has received has completely blown us away," explains Wes Keltner, head of Gun. "This is the first Friday the 13th game featuring Jason Voorhees and Camp Crystal Lake in 28 years. And that's thanks to our backers, our fans and our team." Friday the 13th "This has been a passion project from day one. It's a game we were determined to get underway, and the support from the industry, our peers, our fans and our friends shows that it was worth it. We are delighted to make the game available to everyone so that together we can have the chance to embody one of the world's greatest horror icons—something not everyone gets to do." says co-creator Ronnie Hobbs. Friday the 13th "IllFonic and Gun Media have shared some memorable gaming moments on Friday the 13th: The Video Game. We can't wait to see the new experiences players create together!" concludes IllFonic director Chuck Brungardt.   In addition to Gun Media and IllFonic, members of the Friday the 13th films' cast and crew contributed during the game's development, including director Sean S. Cunningham, special effects expert Tom Savini, composer Harry Manfredini and actor Kane Hodder, who plays Jason Voorhees! Friday the 13th: The Video Game features 10 playable camp counselors, all based on characters from the film series. Jason Voorhees's appearance can vary between versions from Parts 2, 3, 6, 7, 8 and 9, as well as an entirely new design exclusive to pre-orders, created by legendary FX designer Tom Savini. No place to hide. Gun Media and IllFonic launch the hunt with Friday the 13th: The Video Game, available as a digital download on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Steam.
