Last source check: September 14, 2026, Paris time. The second and final day of BlizzCon 2026, held on Sunday, September 13, in Anaheim, did not repeat Saturday's wave of reveals surrounding Diablo V and the new StarCraft. Instead, Blizzard went into much greater depth on two projects: World of Warcraft: Forever and the next Diablo IV season.
The WoW Forever Deep Dive detailed Camping, the Legacy System, the "realmless" structure, professions, optional transmog, itemization and six new race-class combinations. Meanwhile, the Diablo IV: What's Next panel introduced Waking Nightmares, the return of several iconic items, Rebirth, crafting updates and new information about the Amazon, expected in 2027.
The day also featured QuestWatch, the Murloc March, the esports finals, closing remarks from Johanna Faries and a performance by LE SSERAFIM reserved for the audience in Anaheim. Blizzard's official post-event recap does not mention any major new reveal added during the closing ceremony.

World of Warcraft: Forever: Sunday's Big Deep Dive
After its general presentation on Saturday, World of Warcraft: Forever received a much more technical Deep Dive on Sunday.
Blizzard's goal is now clearer: Forever is not simply meant to reuse World of Warcraft Classic and add new zones. The studio wants to preserve the pacing, exploration, progression and class differences that defined the original WoW, while changing several systems that have become restrictive over time.
Blizzard describes Azeroth as Forever's main character. The developers particularly want to encourage unexpected encounters between players, restore the importance of professions and make leveling interesting even after several characters.
The official World of Warcraft: Forever Deep Dive recap details these different systems.
Camping: Campfires Become Real Gathering Places
One of Forever's most original systems is called Camping.
The traditional cooking fire becomes a Basic Campfire around which several players can gather.
Setting up a fire will create a real campsite offering various benefits. Blizzard specifically mentions:
- vendors;
- repairs;
- profession-related areas;
- one-hour temporary buffs;
- the ability for several players to contribute to the campsite.
To benefit from certain bonuses, players will actually have to stop for a few moments around the fire and gain the Well Rested state before setting off on their adventure again.
Every Profession Can Contribute to the Campsite
Players will be able to add up to three crafted items around a basic campfire.
Each profession will have its own items and benefits. Blizzard gives several examples: a Blacksmith will be able to install a grindstone that increases attack power, while a Tailor can place a banner that increases Spirit.
More advanced versions of the fire will accommodate five or even ten items.
The system is therefore intended to give professions a social purpose, even when a player is not directly trying to craft equipment.
More Than 600 New Profession Recipes
Blizzard is also announcing more than 600 new recipes spread across the different professions and skill levels.
Some advanced plans will be obtained from dungeon bosses.
Crafted food will also be able to provide small experience and stat bonuses.
Game.fr analysis: Camping neatly illustrates the philosophy Blizzard is pursuing with Forever. The studio is not merely trying to speed up progression, but to give players more reasons to stop, cooperate and interact during their journey.
Legacy System: Starting a New Character Becomes Progression in Its Own Right
Blizzard also wants to solve an important question: how can leveling remain interesting when a player already has several characters?
The answer comes in the form of the Legacy System.
Players will be able to complete various Legacy Challenges: reaching certain levels with a class, progressing in a profession or completing other objectives tied to the adventure.
These challenges will award Legacy Points.
The points will be shared among the characters on the account, but each character will be able to invest them differently in their own progression trees.
Three Legacy Trees at Launch
Blizzard plans three main categories at launch:
- Professions;
- Adventure;
- Resourcefulness.
Players could, for example, increase the experience gained while Well Rested, gather more resources through their professions or reduce certain costs associated with class abilities.
Each character will be able to spend up to 16 points in their trees at launch.
The account can nevertheless earn up to 65 Legacy Points to begin with. Additional points will also be used to progress along a reward track containing mainly cosmetic or prestige items.
Blizzard specifies that these rewards should not provide a direct competitive advantage.
WoW Forever Becomes Realmless: The End of Traditional Server Selection
The most important technical change announced during the Deep Dive probably concerns servers.
World of Warcraft: Forever is abandoning the traditional choice of a specific realm.
Instead of selecting a server from a long list when creating a character, players will mainly choose the ruleset that matches the way they play.
Blizzard plans:
- Normal: a standard, cooperation-focused experience, with PvP requiring player consent;
- PvP: open-world combat in contested zones;
- Roleplaying: a roleplaying-focused environment;
- Hardcore: planned after launch, with permanent consequences in the event of death.
Each ruleset will function as a large ecosystem.
However, this is not a single server bringing all players together. Characters belonging to two different rulesets will not be able to form a group together.
The Horde and Alliance will also remain separate.
A dead Hardcore character can be transferred to another type of environment, including PvP, but progress made elsewhere cannot be transferred into Hardcore.
Names Made Up of Two Parts
This infrastructure also brings a change to the naming system.
Characters will have two-part names, similar to a first name and a family name.
Since names must be unique across a region, this solution should greatly increase the number of available combinations.
Optional Transmog, More Deliberate Combat and New Itemization
Transmog will be present in Forever, but Blizzard will allow players to disable it client-side. Players who want to see the equipment others are actually wearing will therefore be able to retain an appearance closer to the original game. In Classic Mode, this option will initially be disabled.
The Deep Dive also clarified the combat philosophy. Blizzard is aiming for encounters in which an ordinary enemy generally takes several seconds to defeat and crowd control, threat, resources and preparation regain importance.
Itemization will also evolve, with more specific effects and better support for hybrid playstyles. Blizzard is announcing hundreds of new items to collect throughout the adventure.
Six New Race-Class Combinations Are Coming to WoW Forever
Blizzard has also confirmed six new combinations of races and classes.
| Race | New class |
|---|---|
| Gnome | Priest |
| Human | Hunter |
| Dwarf | Shaman |
| Orc | Mage |
| Troll | Warlock |
| Undead | Paladin |
Dalaran, SD/HD Graphics, WoW Midnight and Warcraft III: Saturday's Announcements
Several details included in weekend recaps had actually been presented the previous day, Saturday, September 12. This includes Dalaran being turned into a dungeon, the level 1-to-60 journey and Classic/modern visual model options for WoW Forever.
The main information about World of Warcraft: Midnight – Eclipse, the raid against Xal'atath in the Worldcore and the new Housing features also belonged to Saturday's Midnight: What's Next panel.
Finally, the presentation of Warcraft III: Reforged – Forsaken Kingdom and its major update was also part of the first day. We therefore count them in our recap of Saturday's announcements, rather than among Sunday's new developments.
Official sources: WoW Forever: What's Next, Midnight: What's Next and Warcraft III: Reforged – Forsaken Kingdom.
Diablo IV: Hell's Legacy and Waking Nightmares at the Heart of Sunday
Sunday's Diablo IV: What's Next panel detailed the Hell's Legacy season, designed as part of Diablo's 30th anniversary celebrations. Deckard Cain and the three Prime Evils—Diablo, Baal and Mephisto—play an important role in its content.
The studio focused particularly on Waking Nightmares, sequences that will bring back environments and enemies inspired by previous games. Blizzard is announcing nearly 20 historical bosses, including Nihlathak and the Maggot Queen.
Important correction: the official recap of Sunday's panel does not announce the return of the Secret Cow Level. The bovine theme was indeed present around Diablo through the Moophisto community event, but this is a separate event and not a reveal from the What's Next panel.
Nearly 20 Historical Bosses and Nine Iconic Unique Items
Waking Nightmares will bring back nearly 20 historical bosses, including Nihlathak and the Maggot Queen. Nine iconic Unique items are set to join the game permanently, including the Stone of Jordan and Leoric's Crown.
Using Splinters of Evil, players will be able to channel powers associated with the three Prime Evils according to a risk-and-reward system.
Rebirth, Mythic Crafting, War Plans and Twitch Drops
The Rebirth feature is returning, allowing players to reuse an existing character for a new season rather than systematically creating another one.
Blizzard also presented several updates involving Mythic items and crafting. The Horadric Cube will notably be able to help upgrade a Unique item into a Mythic while retaining certain affixes. The studio also mentioned Mythic Charms, new Mythic caches from the blacksmith and new Cube recipes.
War Plans are intended to provide progression that is more widely shared among characters in the same account partition, with further adjustments planned over the seasons.
Twitch Drops: Two Different Deadlines
Pay attention to the dates: the weapon Twitch Drops linked to the BlizzCon broadcast are available from September 12 at 10 a.m. PDT until September 15 at 9:59 a.m. PDT. The Diablo 30th anniversary commemorative badge, meanwhile, remains available until September 26 at 9:59 a.m. PDT. Not all BlizzCon rewards should therefore be described as active until September 26.
Diablo IV's Amazon Takes Shape for 2027
The Amazon—planned for the first half of 2027—will be built around four archetypes:
- Champion: a specialist in melee combat with sword and shield who strengthens allies.
- Skirmisher: an extremely mobile javelin fighter.
- Ranger: a long-range tactical archer.
- Commander: a summoner capable of bringing Valkyries onto the battlefield.
The BlizzCon 2026 Champions
Blizzard's official recap now makes it possible to complete the weekend's results:
- Overwatch World Cup 2026: South Korea defeated Saudi Arabia.
- World of Warcraft Arena World Championship: Gators Back defeated Echo.
- Hearthstone Masters Tour World Championship: OTGxhho defeated XiaoT.
- Blizzard Classic Cup: Team Tasteless defeated Team Artosis.
- Mythic Dungeon International: Team Liquid won the competition against Big Lucky. However, this final was scheduled for Saturday, so it is more accurate to present it as a weekend result rather than a Sunday final.

QuestWatch, Murlocs, Johanna Faries and LE SSERAFIM Close BlizzCon
The final day gave the community plenty of attention. QuestWatch Live featured a non-canon tabletop roleplaying session created with Overwatch's narrative team and led by Matt Mercer, alongside several voice actors from the franchise. The session was followed by an online charity sale benefiting Make-A-Wish.
The traditional Murloc March also took place on Sunday. The gathering was scheduled for 11:45 a.m. PDT at Arena Plaza, with the march beginning at noon and a group photo at the Grand Plaza Fountain. The color highlighted for the 2026 edition was emerald green.
Johanna Faries's Closing Remarks, the president of Blizzard, were scheduled for 5:20 p.m. PDT. Blizzard presented this moment as an opportunity to reflect on the weekend and thank the community. The official recap published after the show does not mention any major new game announcement added during the speech.
At 6 p.m. PDT, LE SSERAFIM performed the closing musical act. Blizzard had specified that this was an experience reserved for attendees at the Anaheim Convention Center, and was not included in the public livestream.
What to Remember from Sunday, September 13
The contrast between the two days is ultimately very clear. Saturday concentrated the most spectacular and farthest-off announcements—notably Diablo V, the new StarCraft and the first major details about WoW Forever. Sunday was mainly used to turn these announcements into more concrete projects.
The World of Warcraft: Forever Deep Dive showed how thoroughly Blizzard wants to rethink the social experience, professions, secondary-character progression and the technical organization of realms. The Diablo IV panel, meanwhile, detailed a more immediate roadmap with Hell's Legacy, Waking Nightmares, Rebirth and the Amazon.
The end of the show then gave more room to the community, competitions and celebrations of Blizzard's franchises. After two packed days, Blizzard is clearly looking to keep its catalog active across several time horizons, from updates arriving in the coming weeks to new games announced for 2029 and 2030.
