Ankama is preparing a FU FU FU anniversary celebration to mark WAKFU’s 4th year! As the first crazy gift for fans, the game is now available in free-to-play mode worldwide. This fulfills a long-standing request from part of the French community. It is a unique opportunity for players to (re)discover WAKFU’s humorous and quirky world and its latest additions. Ankama is also preparing a week of festivities starting on February 22, 2016. Several events in the form of contests, with prizes to be won, will be organized on the WAKFU website and on Facebook and Twitter: access to the Huppermage class, emotes, character titles, wallpapers, Haven Bag decorations, and more. Note that WAKFU’s 2016 theme is dungeons and challenges. New dungeons will be created (70 are already in the game), along with new associated monster families. The challenges will highlight in-game activities to complete alone or in a team, whether fighting monsters or competing in PVP.

WAKFU is a tactical, turn-based, massively multiplayer online role-playing game with a humorous and quirky tone. It stands out through the responsibilities given to players, who manage the economy, politics and environment. Its Hero system allows a single player to control several characters during battles.

A game that reflects Ankama’s transmedia positioning as a creator of content and community leader.

WAKFU originated in 2007 as an animated TV series set in the Krosmoz, the universe created by Ankama. Two seasons were produced by the animation studio based in Roubaix and broadcast around the world (in 150 countries by mid-2016). A third season is currently in production.

Five years later, Ankama adapted this universe into a video game. In four years, WAKFU attracted more than 3.5 million players worldwide, 65% of them internationally. Two spin-off games were developed in parallel: Island of WAKFU (available on Xbox 360) and WAKFU Raiders (available on the App Store and Google Play).

The universe was also adapted into comic books, manga and comics in France and the United States. The fourth volume of the WAKFU manga, The Wandering of the Eliotropes, published by Ankama Editions, will be released on May 6.
