Test configuration: PC (Intel i9-13900K, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090, 32 GB RAM), Astro A50 headset.

Resident Evil Requiem does not forgive mistakes when reading the environment, especially during its opening hours, when key items, safes, collectibles and certain route choices directly affect your survival. Our editorial team played through the game from start to finish to bring you this complete guide: how to progress efficiently, solve the puzzles, collect important weapons and items at the right time, and understand the different endings without wasting time.

What to remember when getting started

  • The game was released on February 27, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Switch 2.
  • Progression revolves around key items, safes, Quartz puzzles, Blood puzzles and several points of no return.
  • The most important early- and mid-game areas include the Care Center, its East and West Wings, the basement, the Water Treatment Plant, Raccoon City and the ARK Facility.
  • The game contains 6 safes, 25 Mr. Raccoons, 75 files, 22 Antique Coins and several easy-to-miss weapons and upgrades.
  • There are several endings, with a major choice involving Elpis in the ARK Facility.

Verified facts

  • Resident Evil Requiem is the ninth main entry in the series, often referred to as RE9.
  • The game was released on February 27, 2026.
  • It is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Switch 2.
  • This guide covers the major areas, key items, safes, puzzles, weapons, collectibles and different endings.
  • The game does not offer chapter select after the first completion, making manual saves particularly important.

Before getting into progression, it is important to establish the right framework: Resident Evil Requiem is built as a dense survival horror game, with backtracking, gradual area unlocking and rewards for players who take the time to read documents, open safes and anticipate points of no return. This is precisely what makes the opening hours so important: missing a route or collectible will not necessarily ruin a playthrough, but it can make resource management and completion considerably more difficult.

What you need to understand

The first essential point is that Resident Evil Requiem is not simply about shooting accurately. Progression very often depends on access items, keycards, wristbands, blood specimens, Quartz puzzles, special boxes and documents that provide the real clues for safes and puzzles. If you play too quickly, you are most likely to miss shortcuts, useful rewards and items that make the rest of the adventure easier.

The second point is the value of secondary resources. Antique Coins, Hip Pouches, Empty Bottles, Med Injectors, charms and certain weapon parts are not merely decorative. They determine your comfort, your crafting flexibility and your ability to withstand the most demanding sections, particularly in the Care Center, the basement, certain parts of Raccoon City and the ARK Facility.

Finally, you should approach the game as a series of areas to secure. A properly cleared area is not simply a corridor emptied of threats: it is a space you understand, with its safes opened, files read, collectibles collected and exits identified. This discipline lets you reach the sections where Resident Evil Requiem becomes harder, more punishing and richer in branching paths with greater peace of mind.

Complete walkthrough by actual areas

Early game: Wrenwood Hotel, Main Street and arrival at the Care Center

Resident Evil Requiem opens with a sequence that already requires you to think in terms of efficient progression rather than pure combat. The first documents, Old Key, Wire Cutters, Emergency Exit Key and early trophies or optional objectives immediately establish the game's logic: observe, read, return to the right place and do not waste inventory space. Wrenwood Hotel and the first street sections also serve as an introduction to collecting files and identifying the progression items that truly have priority.

Once access to the Care Center is unlocked, prioritize the first useful circuit: quickly collect what opens the wings, locate the first collectibles, understand where the danger areas are and do not confuse thorough exploration with unnecessary detours. The game pushes you toward a methodical loop very early on: advance a little, find a key item, unlock a wing, backtrack, secure a room and only then invest resources in a riskier section.

Care Center: West Wing, East Wing and the first major pickups

The Care Center is one of the game's real backbones. This is where the walkthrough needs to be organized carefully, because several useful items and rewards appear very early: West Wing Keycard, B934 Pistol, S&S M232, Moon Quartz, Pantry Key, Hip Pouch, Blood Collector and some of the first Mr. Raccoons. This area illustrates not only what to do, but also the order in which to do it to avoid wasting time.

After opening the first useful rooms, focus on collecting the Bar & Lounge safe, following the route to the Red Jewel and Moon Quartz, then moving toward the East Wing and the sequences involving the Blood Collector and Blood Specimens. These are not merely optional detours: they structure the player's power progression and make the following sections much more comfortable.

Blood Lab, ID Wristbands and gradual unlocking

The heart of mid-game progression then revolves around the Blood Lab, the specimens and the various ID Wristband levels. In Resident Evil Requiem, the game does not open all at once: you unlock it layer by layer. Each new wristband or clearance level opens additional areas, items and solutions.

In this section, remember that items such as the Artificial Heart, Artificial Lungs, Wrench, Organ Transport Box and certain research documents have real progression value. The investigative feeling comes from the fact that the puzzles are not isolated: they form part of a logical sequence of back-and-forth trips between rooms, laboratories, treatment areas, locked floors and previously useless passages.

Care Center basement, Courtyard and Water Treatment Plant

The Care Center basement represents a real increase in pressure. This is where space management, safe codes and collection points become even more important, with the Basement Safe, several Mr. Raccoons, an additional Hip Pouch, files and items connected to the next stage of progression. This area is a consolidation point before the game moves into more expansive sequences.

The Courtyard and Water Treatment Plant are transition areas with considerable practical value. You can still collect files, collectibles and at least one important weapon depending on your route, while certain trophies and optional paths can be prepared. The goal here is not to explore every useless corner, but to avoid the worst mistake: leaving an area without collecting its essential items.

Raccoon City and the climb toward the ARK Facility

As the game opens onto Raccoon City, Resident Evil Requiem changes scale without abandoning its survival logic. The East, Center and especially RPD sections are rich in files, Mr. Raccoons, weapons, upgrades and secondary items. Treat this part as your roadmap: where to search, which detours are worthwhile and when to continue the story instead of forcing an exploration for which you are not prepared.

The transition to the ARK Facility marks a major late-game milestone. This section contains several key elements: the final safes, the Override Key, important files for understanding the plot, end-of-route rewards and, above all, the choice that determines the story's different outcomes.

Confirmed puzzles and solutions

Care Center and ARK safes

In Resident Evil Requiem, the most useful safes are spread between the Care Center and the ARK Facility, with rewards ranging from Antique Coins to ammunition, special cards and healing items. On Standard difficulty, the codes are summarized in the table of 6 safes below:

The interesting part is not only the combination, but what each safe provides. The early safes help accelerate your Antique Coin collection, the basement safe provides ammunition support as well as a Raccoon Roundup Map for Rhodes Hill, and the ARK safes offer genuine late-game support through healing, crafting and survival resources.

Quartz puzzles

The Care Center and VIP sector Quartz puzzles rely on interaction between light beams and refraction lenses. Here is how to complete them:

  • Obtaining the Quartz Lens: Explore the Care Center reception office. Using the Screwdriver on the locked drawer lets you collect the Quartz Lens.
  • Refracting stele (Care Center B1): Insert the Quartz Lens into the central stele. Turn the rotating prisms to pivot the light until the blue beam lines up with the wall rosette. Once the refraction stabilizes, the secret compartment opens and releases the Quartz Keycard.
  • VIP Quartz case (Lounge): Open the ornamental VIP case by inspecting the engravings on the lounge music box. Aligning the locking mechanisms gives you a weapon upgrade component and the pass to the archives.

Blood puzzles and Organ Transport Box

These scientific puzzles appear throughout Grace's progression in the Blood Lab and ARK sector. They raise your wristband authorization level:

  • Blood Analyzer (Laboratory B3):
    • Collect the blood sample tube (Blood Specimen Vial) from the B3 cold room.
    • Place the vial in the blood reanalyzer. Adjust the pressure in the reaction chambers to balance the fluid gauges. Once the analysis is approved, the system registers your profile and raises your bracelet to Wristband Level 3.
  • Organ Transport Box (ARK cold room):
    • Search the researcher's body in the autopsy room to retrieve the container key (Organ Container Key).
    • Unlock the cryogenic transport box's combination lock by referring to the nearby autopsy report.
    • Collect the synthetic heart (Synth Heart) to power the main generator and unlock the armored door to the ARK.

The Final Puzzle (The Grinder and Marie's Doll)

The Grinder puzzle is the final logical sequence before the game's endgame phase. Complete it by carrying out the following actions methodically:

  • Step 1 — Install the doll: Place the key item Marie's Doll in the central niche of the mechanical altar facing the main grinder.
  • Step 2 — Purge the pressure valves: Do not activate the main lever prematurely. Turn the wall-mounted safety valves in order to purge the system: first the main pressure valve (red), then the drain valve (blue), which unlocks the access gate.
  • Step 3 — Collect and evacuate: When the mechanism engages, immediately take the Master Override Key released in the center of the platform, then escape through the side emergency hatch before the airlocks close permanently.

Weapons, collectibles and key items

Weapons to prioritize

Resident Evil Requiem greatly rewards players who collect the right weapons at the right time. The weapons our team recommends prioritizing include the B934 Pistol, S&S M232, MSBG 500, Classic 70, Gal, Marksman 1A, W870 Police and Mortal Edge. Some are found along the main route, while others require a detour, more thorough searching or a specific progression item.

These weapons do not all have the same value depending on when you obtain them. A weapon collected too late may seem insignificant, even though it can completely change the game's comfort if acquired during its first access window. It is therefore essential to link weapon collection to your progression instead of searching randomly.

Mr. Raccoons, Files and Antique Coins

Resident Evil Requiem's completion structure largely rests on three major collectible families: Mr. Raccoons, Files and Antique Coins. Our team counted 25 Mr. Raccoons, 75 files and 22 Antique Coins in total, showing that item hunting is not merely a cosmetic bonus but a major part of the game's length and replay value.

Antique Coins increase the value of safes and certain detours. Files enrich the world and sometimes provide concrete clues for puzzles, safe combinations or context. Mr. Raccoons structure completion and motivate players pursuing 100% completion or trophies.

Hip Pouches, charms, BSAA Containers and progression items

Hip Pouches are among the game's most useful items because they immediately reduce inventory pressure. Charms and certain secondary parts may seem more optional, but they contribute to optimizing a complete run. BSAA Containers should also be highlighted, as they return as tangible markers of late-game progression.

Pure progression items must be valued: keycards, Override Key, wristbands, Wrench, Fuse, Emergency Exit Key, Pantry Key, Cherub Key, Screwdriver, Forklift Key and components linked to the blood puzzles. In Resident Evil Requiem, utility loot and collectible loot are inseparable: together, they define the pace of your adventure.

Combat, ammunition and inventory

When to shoot and when to avoid

The real trap in Resident Evil Requiem is believing that a good player clears everything. In reality, a good player mainly identifies worthwhile fights. If a room contains no key item, important collectible or essential corridor that you will revisit often, it is not always worth spending a significant portion of your ammunition there.

Why inventory determines the real difficulty

In Resident Evil Requiem, inventory is not merely an ergonomic restriction; it multiplies the difficulty. The more useless items you keep, the less room you have to collect what will truly save you during the next detour. This is why Hip Pouches matter so much, along with a simple rule: always leave an item box or save room with a clear idea of your next objective.

In practice, this means not carrying components you will not use in the next sequence for too long, keeping space for puzzle items and knowing when to turn raw materials into healing items or ammunition.

Crafting and resource preservation

Crafting should be treated as a reaction tool, not an automatic reflex. It is recommended that you keep certain components until the nature of the next sequence becomes clear, especially before harder sections or areas where healing and control items can make the difference. This is particularly true in the second half of the game, where some resources become more valuable depending on the area you are crossing.

Advanced Survival Guide: Tips and Secrets

To complete Resident Evil Requiem 100% and survive its toughest challenges, here is the complete list of strategies and secrets you need to know.

Save management and difficulty

  • Choose Standard/Modern rather than Classic to save freely, since Classic imposes a more restrictive incremental save system.
  • If inventory management causes you too many problems, do not hesitate to play on Casual (Easy) difficulty.
  • Make multiple strategic saves: this is especially important before the final puzzle or difficult areas if you want to unlock specific trophies without starting over.

Inventory management

  • Item management is the key to the game. Pick things up carefully and free space whenever possible.
  • Always keep your weapons fully loaded to use up ammunition boxes and free inventory slots.
  • Do not hesitate to put weapons in storage if you run out of ammunition.
  • Keep useful early-game items, especially the empty bottle and lighter.

Combat and survival

  • Avoid running while unarmed so you do not attract attention.
  • Take refuge in well-lit areas: Many roaming monsters, such as the girl stalking you, will stop following and disappear if you stand in the light.
  • Boss Zeno: Do not use firearms; he dodges bullets! Block his attacks, strike him at close range (R2/X) and pursue him relentlessly.
  • Mutant plants: They are vulnerable only when their mouths are open, so wait for that exact moment to shoot.
  • Glass environments: If enemies are standing on glass floors, shoot the glass to make them fall into the void.
  • Running away and stealth are often the best options. Turn on certain lights to create a distraction and sneak behind zombies.

Weapons, upgrades and economy

  • Do not shoot with Grace at the beginning: Keep your pistol's single bullet; it is essential for unlocking a trophy later.
  • Equip the Mr. Raccoon charm quickly to greatly increase your accuracy and critical-hit rate.
  • Craft Med Injectors: this is an excellent money-making strategy, since they sell for 1,500 credits each!
  • Choose the Classic 70 armor upgrade as early as possible to withstand damage.
  • Play according to your own style: prioritize the weapon you are most comfortable with, such as the shotgun, and upgrade it first.

Exploration and puzzles (hidden trophies)

  • Look up: Many ammunition pickups and valuable items are suspended overhead and can be obtained by shooting them.
  • Always collect documents before activating mechanisms, since some actions prevent backtracking.
  • Anticipate major puzzles: In puzzle areas such as the Care Center and Blood Lab, carefully read documents found nearby. The combinations and action sequences, such as purging valves or aligning reagents, are directly suggested by the environmental lore.
  • Manage progression items: Always leave room in your inventory for major puzzle items such as the Master Override Key, Quartz Lens and Wristbands. Avoid filling your bag before entering key areas such as the Grinder or ARK.
  • Bloodless trophy: Save, use your Transfusion bag, then repeatedly reload your game until the trophy unlocks.

Resident Evil Requiem's ending explained

MAJOR SPOILERS: this section reveals Resident Evil Requiem's main outcomes and the final choice involving Elpis. If you have not finished the game, return after completing your playthrough.

A central choice involving Elpis

Resident Evil Requiem does not end with a single fixed outcome. The player must make a choice involving Elpis in the ARK Facility, and that choice determines at least two distinct conclusions. This information is essential because it changes the outcome of your adventure.

Release Elpis: the true ending

The Release Elpis option leads to the true ending. Elpis is presented as an antiviral cure, and this route leads to the final fight against Victor Gideon. It is the most complete route narratively, shedding the most light on the final confrontation and the logic of the story.

This ending provides the most complete resolution to the main conflict.

Destroy Elpis: the alternate ending

The Destroy Elpis option triggers the alternate ending. This decision destroys the facility and keeps Grace alive, but results in Leon's death in this branch of events.

Comparing the two endings

The two endings can be compared across three areas: their immediate implications, the characters' fates and their overall narrative scope.

🔴 Resident Evil Requiem Boss Guide

👁️ The Girl — Recurring Boss

The Girl is the game's most feared enemy: she hunts you from the beginning of the Care Center and cannot be killed during the first part of the adventure. Her absolute weakness is light. Take refuge in illuminated areas: she immediately stops pursuing you and disappears into the shadows. Do not waste a single bullet on her—each shot only enrages her and accelerates her movement. Learn her patrol routes so you can sneak past without attracting her attention.

  • Phase 1 (Care Center): Run into the light; do not shoot.
  • Phase 2 (basement): She blocks key passages. Use the generators to turn on the neon lights and create a safe route.
  • Phase 3 (ARK Facility): She becomes vulnerable. Target her back with the Shotgun or Magnum during her attack animations.

🍳 The Chef

Encountered in the Care Center kitchens, the Chef is a massive and resilient enemy. His main mechanic is charging in a straight line and being blind in brightly lit areas.

  • Strategy: Light all the kitchen burners to stun him, then aim for his head when he puts away his cleaver (a two-second animation). Three or four well-placed Shotgun blasts are enough.
  • Mistake to avoid: Do not remain in a narrow corridor—he will knock you back and inflict massive damage.
  • Reward: Cold Room Key + 2 Med Injectors.

🧴 Boss Zeno — The Colossus

Zeno is one of Resident Evil Requiem's most surprising encounters: your firearms are useless. He dodges every bullet with superhuman speed.

  • Phase 1: Parry his attacks (L1/LB with proper timing), then chain three close-range strikes (R2/RT). Repeat four times.
  • Phase 2 (50% HP): He gains an area attack. Move sideways, never backward.
  • Pro tip: The Mr. Raccoon charm reduces his close-range damage by 15%. Equip it before the fight.
  • Reward: ID Wristband Level 3 + access to the Care Center's north wing.

🗿 Chunk — The Infected Threat

Chunk is a late-stage infected creature, half human and half parasite. Its weak point is the glowing purple bulbs pulsing on its back.

  • Opening: When it rears up, its bulbs are exposed. Fire two or three Shotgun or Magnum rounds.
  • Danger: Its tentacles inflict the “Infected” status effect, causing damage over time. Keep an Antidote on hand.
  • Environment: Use the red explosive barrels scattered around the room to deal massive damage during its first rage phase.
  • Reward: Organ Transport Box + Forklift Key.

💀 Victor Gideon — Final Boss (Release Elpis route)

Victor Gideon is accessible only after choosing to Release Elpis in the ARK Facility. This is the game's most demanding encounter.

  • Phase 1: He continuously summons zombies. Do not waste ammunition on them—shoot Gideon directly with the Magnum whenever he stops to summon.
  • Phase 2 (25% HP): He merges with Elpis and becomes a mutant creature. Shoot the central red node in his chest. The Grenade Launcher is essential here.
  • Prepare BEFOREHAND: Store 6 explosive grenades, 12 Magnum rounds and 3 Med Injectors. This is a point of no return.
  • Ending obtained: “Release Elpis” ending (true canonical ending).

🎰 Secrets, Easter Eggs and Optional Puzzles

The Game Room Roulette

In the Care Center's abandoned game room, a wall-mounted roulette wheel appears decorative. In reality, it is a hidden reward mechanism. To activate it:

  1. First collect the 3 red tokens scattered through the adjacent rooms (under the bar, behind the pinball machine and in the locker room).
  2. Insert the tokens into the slot beneath the roulette wheel (Hold E/Square interaction).
  3. Pull the roulette arm to spin it.

Possible rewards: Rare Antique Coin / Magnum Ammo x4 / Exclusive “Ace of Spades” Charm (+10% critical damage).

Barry's Treasure Hunt — The “Jojo” Locker

In the RPD office in Raccoon City, a note signed “B.B.” indicates the existence of a personal locker. To open it:

  1. Clue 1: Read the orange sticky note on the desk at the RPD entrance (“The forgotten do not die, they wait”).
  2. Clue 2: Find the family photo in the break room (third drawer of the green locker).
  3. Clue 3: Combine the initials of the three first names visible in the photo → code JSB.

Reward: W870 Police (the best shotgun in the game) + a handwritten letter from Barry Burton that significantly expands RE Requiem's lore.

The Hidden Tofu & The Severed Hand

Two legendary Capcom easter eggs are hidden in the ARK Facility:

  • The Tofu: In the B2 ventilation ducts, a giant block of Tofu—a tribute to RE2—can be reached by crawling through the vent opening in the server room. It can be collected as an item and triggers a humorous message from Hunk.
  • The Severed Hand: Behind a broken partition in the sterilization chamber corridor. Interacting with it produces a bone finger key, which opens a locker containing a unique charm: “Hunk's Finger” (+5% crafted ammunition).

The Hourglass Puzzle & The Final Puzzle

These two optional puzzles are found in the final part of the ARK Facility, before the point of no return:

  • The Hourglass: Turn the hourglass exactly three times (no more, no less) when the sand is halfway through. The room lights up and reveals a secret passage leading to a chest containing 4 Antique Coins.
  • The Final Puzzle: Read the three lab plaques in the order RED → BLUE → WHITE. Each plaque activates a biological symbol on the wall. The combination opens the central panel and reveals the complete Override Key, required for the “true ending.”

👥 Resident Evil Requiem Characters and Lore

Who is Grace Ashcroft?

Grace Ashcroft is RE Requiem's main protagonist. A former nurse at the Rhodes Hill Care Center, she becomes caught up in a secret biological experiment conducted by the reconstituted Umbrella Corporation. Her connection to the Elpis virus is central: she carries a natural antigen that is its only antidote. Her determination, intimate knowledge of the Care Center and interactions with Leon S. Kennedy shape the entire narrative progression.

Who is Sherry Birkin?

Sherry Birkin, a survivor of Raccoon City in 1998 who already appeared in RE2, returns in RE Requiem as a government agent sent to locate Elpis. Her story reveals that she is immune to the new viral strains because of the mutations caused by the G-Virus during her childhood—a crucial piece of lore for understanding Victor Gideon's plan.

Who is Hunk?

Hunk, Umbrella's legendary mercenary, is one of the game's biggest secrets. His appearance depends on a specific easter egg (The Hidden Tofu). He speaks only one line of dialogue, but his presence confirms that the Umbrella Underground is still active behind the events of RE Requiem.
