Aniimo: 50 tips and mistakes to avoid for a strong start

By Filo · · 21 min read
Starting Aniimo? Some mistakes can make you waste rare Aniipods, resources or several hours of exploration. Between Twining, capture probabilities, elements, Break, evolutions and limited-time events, Pawprint Studio's RPG has far more systems than it may seem during the first few hours. Quick answer: the five most important rules for getting started in Aniimo are to save your Ultra Aniipods for truly important captures, weaken creatures and put them into favorable states before trying to capture them, diversify your team's elements, make use of Aniimo movement abilities, and regularly claim free and limited-time rewards. This guide brings together 50 Aniimo tips for new players. We prioritized mechanics documented by Pawprint Studio and the official wiki, and excluded tips that could not be confirmed or were based only on anecdotes. If you are looking instead for a complete overview of the game, its gameplay, Twining and platforms, see our complete Aniimo guide.

Aniimo: 10 essential capture tips

Capturing is not entirely random. Aniimo uses several multipliers based on the Aniipod you use, your level, the target's HP and certain special states. Understanding these rules can save a huge amount of resources.

1. Save your Ultra Aniipods for truly important captures

The Ultra Aniipod guarantees a successful capture when it can be used normally on the target. That makes it one of the most valuable capture items in the game. Avoid using one simply because a quest gives you one or because a common Aniimo breaks out several times. Save it instead for a particularly rare creature, one that is difficult to find again, or one you absolutely want to secure.

2. Use the right Aniipod instead of immediately using an Ultra

The different Aniipods have their own multipliers:
  • Standard Aniipod: ×1;
  • Pro Aniipod: ×1.5;
  • Hyper, Trace or Mega Aniipod: ×2;
  • Ultra Aniipod: guaranteed success;
  • Sparkling Cube: guaranteed success under the conditions defined by the game.
Before using your best resource, check whether a mid-tier Aniipod combined with good multipliers is already enough.

3. Weaken the target before throwing your Aniipod

In battle, the target's HP directly affects your chances. At 100% HP, the multiplier is ×0.8. It gradually increases as the creature is weakened and can reach ×2 when its HP falls to 0% in the official formula. In other words, for a difficult capture, properly preparing the target is usually more effective than throwing several Aniipods at random.

4. Use Break before difficult captures

Break is not only useful in combat. A target in Break state officially receives a ×1.5 capture multiplier. When the special capture bonus linked to Break is active, the multiplier can even rise to ×3. An Aniimo focused on RUPT. can therefore be extremely useful in your capture team.

5. Sleep and stun can double your chances

Several favorable states provide a capture bonus. The official formula notably gives a ×2 multiplier to states such as:
  • sleep;
  • stun;
  • certain feeding- or attraction-related states;
  • certain situations in which the Aniimo is disoriented.
On a rare target, controlling the creature's state can be far more efficient than immediately wasting a higher-tier Aniipod.

6. Try to surprise a creature from behind

Outside combat, a valid rear attack can grant a ×1.5 capture multiplier with a standard Aniipod. This mechanic rewards a stealthy approach. When you encounter a creature that is difficult to approach, taking a few seconds to circle around it can improve your chances.

7. Avoid trying to capture Aniimo that are far above your level

The level difference between you and the target has a major impact on capture chances.
Level difference Multiplier
Up to 10 levels higher ×1
11 levels higher ×0.8
12 levels higher ×0.6
13 levels higher ×0.4
14 levels higher ×0.2
15 levels or more ×0.1
If your target is far too strong, coming back later can be much more effective than sacrificing your best Aniipods.

8. An Alpha must be defeated before it can normally be captured

Common Alphas officially have a 0% capture chance while they are still alive. After they are defeated, their base chance increases to 6% before the other multipliers are applied. Do not waste resources trying to treat an Alpha exactly like a standard wild Aniimo.

9. Some states can reduce your chances instead

Not every status is favorable. A wary or alert creature can receive a penalty. Some states such as Wary or Watching reduce the multiplier to ×0.9, while certain fleeing situations can reduce it even further. When the creature starts noticing you or trying to flee, it may be better to reposition your character than to hurriedly throw your best Aniipod.

10. Some Aniimo simply cannot be captured in certain situations

Some states immediately reduce the chance to 0%. This may apply to a creature protected by a special mechanic, one already associated with an owner, or certain specific enemies. If a capture seems impossible despite using a good Aniipod, first check whether the game actually allows that target to be captured at that moment.

Combat: 10 tips for building a more effective team

11. Learn the nine elements

The official Aniimo wiki currently classifies creatures into nine elements:
  • Holy;
  • Fire;
  • Ice;
  • Dark;
  • Electric;
  • Grass;
  • Water;
  • Rock;
  • Wind.
Elemental matchups quickly become important against tougher enemies.

12. Do not use an entirely single-element team

A team made up only of Aniimo from the same element can work during some parts of the game, but it becomes very vulnerable when the opponent exploits that element's weakness. When starting out, prioritize a sufficiently varied team so you have an answer to several situations.

13. Check the matchup chart directly

There is no need to memorize every elemental relationship immediately. The game lets you display the type matchup panel from Aniimo management. Use it before a boss or a fight that is giving you trouble.

14. Keep a RUPT. option in your team

The official wiki distinguishes several roles:
  • DPS;
  • Healing;
  • Support;
  • RUPT.;
  • REGEN.
An Aniimo specialized in RUPT. helps break certain defenses more quickly and can also improve your capture attempts through the Break system.

15. Do not judge an Aniimo only by its ATK

A high attack value is not enough to determine how useful a creature is. An Aniimo with strong RUPTURE, REGEN., healing or support stats can contribute more to a team than a second pure attacker.

16. Change your team composition before losing ten times in a row

When a boss refuses to go down, do not automatically start grinding several levels. Start by checking:
  • its element;
  • your counters;
  • your Break capability;
  • your healing;
  • the roles represented in the team.
A better composition can sometimes solve a fight without a long leveling session.

17. Treat the recommended level as a guideline, not a restriction

The suggested level helps estimate difficulty, but your team composition and command of the mechanics also matter. You can attempt a fight slightly above your level if your team is well suited to it. However, do not use that advice as an excuse to ignore progression entirely.

18. Use Twining to level the Aniimo you actively use

The official guide states that Aniimo in your team can gain experience through battles completed in Twine mode. This allows the creatures you actually use to progress naturally.

19. Use Experience Gems wisely

Experience Gems let you directly raise an Aniimo's level. However, avoid automatically spreading them across every creature you capture. Early on, focus them mainly on a team you actually use.

20. Test roles before investing heavily in a creature

Before spending a large amount of upgrade resources, play a few battles with the Aniimo in question. Its role, mobility and abilities may not suit your playstyle, even if its stats look excellent on paper.

Exploration: 10 tips for discovering more Aniimo

21. Build a small collection of movement abilities

Aniimo are not only used in combat. Some species have specific mobility or pathfinding abilities. These include abilities related to:
  • flying;
  • tunneling;
  • specialized movement;
  • crossing certain areas.
Having several types of mobility available makes exploration much smoother.

22. Keep an Aniimo that can fly

Some Aniimo such as Clairbec or Fragrancier officially have flying abilities. A flying creature can make hard-to-reach locations much easier to access and save you from always having to search for a land route.

23. Do not overlook tunneling abilities

Aniimo such as Crabourgeon, Crabiflore or Géodosaure have Tunnel-type mobility. These abilities change how you move through certain areas and can also affect the creature's behavior in combat.

24. Return to older regions with new movement abilities

An area you have already explored is not necessarily finished forever. When you obtain an Aniimo with a new movement ability, consider revisiting places where you noticed passages or resources that were difficult to reach.

25. Look for some creatures at different times of day

The time of day can affect certain forms and certain Aniimo. The official wiki, for example, lists nocturnal forms for several creatures. If a creature seems impossible to find, do not automatically assume it has disappeared or that its location is wrong.

26. Check the weather before farming a specific creature

Aniimo's ecosystem reacts to environmental conditions. When looking for a specific form or species, check the weather and do not hesitate to return under different climatic conditions.

27. Do not turn every creature search into a straight-line route

Exploring only the main path means missing part of what makes the open world interesting. Regularly move away from the roads, especially once your team starts gaining different movement abilities.

28. Check the habitat in the wiki/Aniimopedia before searching randomly

The official entries list the habitats of many species. For a specific creature, identifying its environment first can greatly reduce the time spent searching.

29. Capture new species you encounter even if you do not plan to use them

A capture can contribute to your collection progress, the Aniimopedia or future objectives. Do not think only in terms of your “main team.”

30. Keep at least a few Aniimo with very different functions

A Fire attacker and another Fire attacker do not necessarily solve two different problems. For your reserves, prioritize diversity as well:
  • elements;
  • roles;
  • mobility;
  • forms;
  • Homeland abilities.

Progression and evolutions: 10 tips to avoid wasting resources

31. Progress your Aniimopedia

Collecting Aniimo is not just about completion. Pawprint Studio confirms that certain Aniimopedia milestones grant accessories and other rewards.

32. Do not stop at your six favorite creatures

Even if you have already found an effective team, keep capturing and discovering new species. Collection rewards, future team compositions and evolution requirements give value to creatures you do not use immediately.

33. Check evolution requirements regularly

Not every evolution triggers automatically when a level increases. Pawprint Studio has also changed several descriptions because some requirements were considered difficult to understand.

34. Some evolutions require a specific action or location

The studio added coordinate tracking for certain evolutions that require players to go to a specific place and complete an objective. If your Aniimo seems “stuck,” check the exact requirements before simply continuing to level it up.

35. Check the different branches before choosing

Several species have different evolutions or forms. Before investing in one branch, check whether another evolution better matches the role, element or playstyle you are looking for.

36. Do not spend rare resources without reading the description

It may sound obvious, but this is one of the easiest mistakes to make in an RPG packed with systems. Before using a rare resource:
  • check its effect;
  • verify which creature it applies to;
  • check whether the upgrade actually helps your current team.

37. Prioritize a few Aniimo early on

Trying to immediately raise ten or fifteen creatures to the same level can spread your resources too thin. Build a balanced main team first, then gradually develop elemental and tactical alternatives.

38. Keep some Experience Gems to quickly test a new recruit

Gems let you bring a newly obtained creature closer to your current progression level more quickly. Keeping a reserve prevents you from having to start from a very low level every time an interesting Aniimo joins your collection.

39. Releasing some Aniimo can return Experience Gems

Pawprint Studio has already improved this system by increasing the rate at which Experience Gems are refunded when Aniimo are released. This mechanic makes managing an oversized collection less punishing.

40. Take advantage of balance changes instead of blindly following an old guide

Aniimo is a live-service game. Prices, refund rates, evolution requirements, probabilities and events can change. If an old guide contradicts what you see in your client or in recent official patch notes, always prioritize the current version of the game.

Resources, Homeland and events: 7 highly rewarding habits

41. Do not spend real money just because you are running low on Aniipods

Aniipods can be obtained through several in-game methods: exploration, chests, quests, shops and crafting. Before using a premium resource, check your other available sources. Pawprint also regularly distributes Ultra Aniipods, Sparkling Cubes and other capture items during certain events. For a detailed analysis of the business model, see also our feature on free-to-play games and progression.

42. Use the Aniipod Maker in the Homeland

Pawprint's official guide states that Aniipods can notably be crafted using the Aniipod Maker in the Homeland. The Homeland is therefore not just a decorative area: it can directly contribute to your resource economy.

43. Do not dismiss the Homeland as useless side content

Pawprint officially ties several rewards and activities to the Homeland. Spending at least some time there can therefore improve your progression and unlock resources or rewards you would miss by focusing exclusively on the story.

44. Claim limited-time rewards before they expire

Aniimo events have specific start and end dates. When you open the game, quickly check the available limited-time activities before heading back out to explore. A few minutes can sometimes be enough to claim a reward that will no longer be available a few days later.

45. Use free attempts before they reset

The Aniimo Discovery event from version 1.1 is a perfect example of this principle. Pawprint specifies that free attempts refresh periodically but do not stack. Holding onto them indefinitely therefore means losing future free attempts.

46. Use Prismana events to focus your searches

Events such as Vein Abundance temporarily make certain areas more valuable by causing specific Prismana forms to appear there. If you are looking for these variants, check the event calendar before randomly farming a region for several hours.

47. Accumulate login days when an important reward is announced

Pawprint Studio has already offered rewards based on the number of login days, including a random perfect Aniimo egg. You do not have to play for several hours: when this type of event is active, a quick login can be enough to advance the counter.

Account and convenience: 3 mistakes to avoid from the start

48. Choose your server carefully

Progression data is tied to the server you use. If you plan to play with friends or use several platforms, choose your region carefully from the start.

49. Use the same account and server on your different devices

Aniimo supports cross-platform progression. To properly retrieve your adventure on PC, console or mobile, use the same account and the same server. Your progression, resources and team compositions can then be shared across compatible platforms.

50. If your progress seems to have disappeared, do not restart immediately

Before creating a new character:
  1. check the account you are signed into;
  2. check the server;
  3. verify account linking if you are on console;
  4. restart the client if necessary;
  5. contact official support if the issue persists.
Immediately creating a new game can simply add confusion when your progress still exists on another server or account.

The 10 most important beginner mistakes to avoid

If you remember only one part of this guide, make sure to avoid these ten mistakes:
  1. wasting an Ultra Aniipod on an easy capture;
  2. throwing Aniipods without weakening the target;
  3. ignoring Break and favorable statuses;
  4. trying to capture a creature far above your level;
  5. building an entirely single-element team;
  6. ignoring RUPT., Healing and Support roles;
  7. searching for every creature at the same time of day and in the same weather;
  8. assuming every evolution depends only on level;
  9. letting event rewards and free attempts expire;
  10. switching platforms without checking your account and server.

FAQ — getting started in Aniimo

What is the best tip for starting Aniimo?

Do not waste your rare items. Ultra Aniipods guarantee a capture, but many creatures can be obtained with less valuable Aniipods if you make use of HP, Break, statuses and level differences.

How can you increase capture chances in Aniimo?

Weaken the target, use Break or certain statuses such as sleep, attack from behind when the situation allows it and choose an appropriate Aniipod. Also avoid targets that are far above your character's level.

Does an Ultra Aniipod really guarantee a capture?

Yes. The official documentation states that the Ultra Aniipod guarantees success when capture is allowed.

Can you capture an Alpha?

A common Alpha cannot normally be captured while it is alive. After it is defeated, its base chance becomes greater than zero and capture multipliers can then apply.

How many elements does Aniimo have?

The official wiki currently lists nine elements: Holy, Fire, Ice, Dark, Electric, Grass, Water, Rock and Wind.

Which roles exist in Aniimo?

The official wiki distinguishes, among others, DPS, Healing, Support, RUPT. and REGEN.

Does weather affect Aniimo?

Yes. Environmental conditions and the time of day can influence the creatures and certain forms you encounter. It is therefore useful to revisit a region under different conditions.

Do all evolutions depend on level?

No. Some evolutions require special conditions, and Pawprint even added coordinate tracking to help players complete certain evolution objectives.

Can you get Ultra Aniipods for free?

Yes. Pawprint Studio has distributed them through launch events, pre-registration rewards and certain in-game activities.

Do you need to pay to get a good start in Aniimo?

No. Many resources are obtained through progression, exploration and events. The shop may offer additional purchases, but they are not required to follow the advice in this guide.

Key takeaways

Getting a strong start in Aniimo depends less on grinding than on understanding its systems. A good capture combines the right Aniipod with HP, statuses, Break and level difference. A good team is not simply a stack of Aniimo with the highest attack. And effective exploration requires you to account for mobility abilities, time of day, weather and evolution requirements. Because the game evolves regularly, some events and parameters may be changed by Pawprint Studio. Game.fr will update this guide when new mechanics or important tips are confirmed.
