Final Fantasy VII Revelation: new details on the FITS system, Vincent, Cid and the Highwind

This was one of Sunday's major events at the Main Theatre. Square Enix held its From Reunion to Resolve panel, hosted in particular by director Naoki Hamaguchi and combat director Teruki Endo. The panel was not solely used to reveal new features: several important elements had already been presented a few days earlier, notably during the September 3, 2026 State of Play. At PAX West, Square Enix mainly used the presentation to explore certain mechanics in greater depth and show more gameplay.
  • “FITS” system (Function-Integrated Tactical Suitwear): this specialized outfit system, which functions like a set of job classes and had already been presented before the show, received further explanation. Warrior, Knight, Black Mage and Summoner outfits can change characters' roles and expand the possibilities for combat synergy.
  • Vincent and Cid in action: the panel offered a closer look at the gameplay of Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind, who are now fully integrated into the battles of this third installment.
  • Exploration and the Highwind: Square Enix revisited the aerial exploration of the world aboard the Highwind, which had already been shown, as well as several traversal tools such as the grappling hook and the presence of the Chocobo Piko.
  • Release date: Square Enix reiterated that Final Fantasy VII Revelation is still scheduled for April 8, 2027.
  • Next event: the publisher also reiterated that an event dedicated to the game will be held at New York Comic Con on October 8, 2026, an event that had already been announced.

Esports & PAX Arena: MARVEL Tōkon, Balatro and the Omegathon

While the Expo Hall continued welcoming visitors to numerous playable demos, the PAX Arena hosted several competitions and events throughout the day.
  • Almost Pro $10K MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls Open: the final groups, corresponding to Waves E through H, concluded on Sunday. This phase determined which players would qualify for the next stage of the tournament and the Top 24.
  • Major League Balatro – Season 4: the main stage hosted the Live Cookie Brigade Showdown, an event combining competition and charity around LocalThunk's card game.
  • Omegathon: PAX's traditional multidisciplinary tournament continued its elimination rounds on Sunday, ahead of the final stretch scheduled for the closing day.

Indie games & tabletop: the titles to remember from the Expo Hall

The independent scene and tabletop games occupied an important place in the Arch and Summit halls, with numerous playable projects and several spaces dedicated to card and board games.
  • Spirit of Midnight – Good Badger: this point-and-click narrative adventure starring a cat was among the notable indie games at the show. The project draws inspiration from genre classics while seeking to modernize certain assistance and accessibility features.
  • Ukiyo Studios: the independent publisher had a particularly significant presence, with 24 titles showcased at its booth. These included TANUKI: Pon's Summer, Altered Alma and the horror game Mouthwashing.
  • TCG & Tabletop Zone: the spaces dedicated to card and board games hosted several activities and qualifying rounds, including the Disney Lorcana: Core Constructed tournament and sessions centered on Neopets: Battledome TCG.
